Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect in an initial strength & program assessment?
Our initial strength and performance assessments are centred around understanding your history, injuries (if applicable), sporting goals and training loads. We will then conduct some targeted assessments to determine your baseline capacity, and put together an individualised program suited towards your injury or performance goals. You will be coached through this, and we will set up a timeline for progression, recovery and re-assessment.
Can I train at Athletes Edge?
We offer a multitude of options for the programs, ranging from online program set up through to group or 1:1 sessions at Athletes Edge. For those looking to train at our boutique centre in Caulfield North, we offer membership options which have a variety of inclusions and class availabilities. While many athletes opt for a membership due to value for investment, you can pay per session. We aim to structure your training and rehab in a ways that best suits your goals and situation. Speak to us if you have more questions about training at Athletes Edge Physiotherapy.
Who can do strength and performance sessions?
Our services are appropriate for everyone, regardless of age, ability or activity background. While many of our patients are athletes, we do provide services for everyone in the community. We can tailor our strength and performance services towards your specific goals, whether that be running a marathon, improving your muscle mass or strength, recovering from an injury, or improving your speed and power.
Do I need any prior experience to start a strength program?
No prior experience is necessary to starting training! Our programs, whether supervised at Athletes Edge, or completed remotely, are individualised to your current level. We coach you through and set realistic, meaningful goals which we not only work towards but test regularly to ensure you stay on track to reach your outcomes.
Can my child or teenager complete strength and performance training?
Definitely! There is strong evidence that involving children and youth athletes in strength and conditioning programs not only reduces injury risk but also will improve their athletic performance. We run specific youth athletic development sessions and programming, based upon the science on how to not only improve short term goals but achieve optimum long term performance and wellbeing outcomes.
